West Side Story is a musical movie by Jerome Robbins and Robert Wise release in 1961. The story inspire of Romeo & Juliet from William Shakspeare. The scene take place in New-York in the backstreet of Manhattan. They are 2 different gangs who want to protect there territory from other gangs that is why the 2 gangs usually fight. But one day in a party 2 member of the Jets and Sharks (Tony and Maria) fall in love and they must fight for there love because they are not in the same gangs (Tony is in The Jets and Maria is with the Sharks) and each gangs approve not this love.

Review of West Side Story

I think that the movie is good but it is too dragical. The characters are too sensible. They sing every time for everything.Tony is in The Jets one of the 2 gangs but he fall in love with Maria a girl of the other gang. Tony want to stop the violence between the 2 gangs for being with Maria. In a fight between the 2 gangs Riff and Bernando die and a war which burst between the 2 gangs. At the end Arita say to The Jets that Maria is died, Tony is despair and want to die.At end Chino kill Tony. In my mind West Side Story is a copy of Roméo & Juliet. The 2 movies are in different moment similar.



Similarities & Differences between West Side Story & Romeo & Juliet

Similarities:

-The story speaks about 2 rival gangs feuding
-In the 2 movies they are 2 person who love someone of the other
-They are a impossible love between 2 person
-The friends of the 2 leaders help them and die for them

Differences:

-The story of West Side Story take place in New-York whereas in Romeo & Juliet the scene take place in Verona
-The environment is different in West Side Story and Romeo & Juliet
-The 2 gangs of West Side Story are poor while in Romeo & Juliet are rich families.
