ROCHAS Alexandra ( English food )

What is the traditionnal English Breakfast?

The traditional English breakfast consists in : bacon, saussages, black pudding, eggs, tomatoes, backed beans, mushrooms, potatoes, fried bread, cereals, toast and stewed fruit, tea and orange juice.

I think that the English breakfast is copious and very heavy, but varied!

What is a typical British lunch?

Many children at school and adults at work will have a " packed lunch ". This typically consists in : a sandwich, a packet of crisps, a piece of fruit and a drink.

The " packed lunch " is kept in a plastic container, otherwise called a lunchbox.

I think that the English lunch is really light but very practical!

The " five o' clock tea "

The " five o' clock tea " is a real ritual in England and other countries.
It is often accompanied with small cakes or scones.

What is a traditional British Dinner?

The evening meal is usually called " tea ", " dinner " or " supper ".

A typical British meal for dinner is " meat and two or three boiled vegetables served with potatoes.

I believe the English dinner is much too heavy for evening and should be better for lunch.

My opinion is that English meals are not as attractive and refined as French meals which are more varied !!!

West side story (by Sona)

West side story is a film about a group of youths, a gang called the jets. The scene takes place in a backstreet in a tough neighbourhood.

Gangs usually fight so they may fight for their territory, to protected it from other gangs of different ethnic origins / descents.

The Jets consider themselves the true Americans and they think the Sharks do not belong there and they should go back home to Puerto Rico.

Tony, a member of the Jets is not there, and this annoys the Jets because he must be their leader.

The film may deal with love, falling in love with the wrong person, fights, broken hearts and friendship.

They are planning to go to the gym that night at 10:00 because there is a dance and it is neutral territory.

They want to meet Bernardo, who must be the leader of the Sharks in order to challenge him: there is most probably going to be a fight.

One of them might die, so it would be a tragedy. They want to show who is the strongest. Two of the youths may love the same girl and fight for her.
The police may bring them to the police station and they kill each other in jail.

One gang wins and the other wants to take their revenge. Maybe Tony falls love with Bernardo's sister. Bernardo wants to protect her and does not want his sister to see Tony, so the 2 lovers must hide...

west side story lesson(by alexis et valentin)
West Side Story was released in 1961, 50 years ago.
The action takes place in a back street and a play ground.
We can see a group of teenagers, a gang named the "jets".
WSS may deal with such issues as love, fights for different ideas (for example ethnic differences) or for territories.
WWS might talk about school. The "jets" consider themselves as the true Americans.
They are planning a fight. They are going to meet the enemy at a dance at 10:00 that night and challenge the Sharks.
It reminds us of the theatre play Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare.
