The Cure are the inventors of Goth rock genre.
They wear black clothes, black eyeliner, have got black hair and their songs deal with death and alienation, most people say Robert Smith of The Cure is the " best " singer of Goth Rock.
The Cure released their first album " Three Imaginary Boys " in 1979. The band was given a " Godlike genius " award this year by British music bible the NME.

What is their secret ? Their secret is the dark texture sound that at times can be " oppressively dispirited ".
I think that The Cure is the Icon of Goth Rock because they created their own look and kept their ideas.
